Beavers Wesenstest
Spirit of Chippewa Achmik
Beaver, Spirit of Chippewa Achmik, hat den Wesenstest am
11.11.2012 bestanden. Richterin war Frau Birgit Muhr. Dabei
werden Verhalten und Reaktionen des Hundes unter
Stressbelastung getestet
Spirit of Chippewa Achmik, Beaver passed the German
"Wesenstest", an examination for retriever checking the dog's
traits under stress. Judge was Mrs. Birgit Muhr.
First challenge is to check the behaviour in front of unknown
people
next, the dog is placed in a lateral position and he should
accept that the judge keeps him in that position by touching
him with his hand; finally, the group forms first a close circle
around the dog and handler, then the handler leaves the circle
and the dog has to stay still for a while even though members
of the group touch or caress him.
Next challenge is to check the reaction upon acoustic and optical stimulus: he has to
pass by moving plastic ribbons; unusual objects occur beginning to move around
unexpectedly and a whole bunch of empty metal cans produces a weird noise. During
exposure to these irritating events, the judge observes how the dog reacts, including
the dog’s interaction with the handler.
Next exercise consists of a test for gun shyness: a marksman fires three times with a
delay of a few seconds. The dog must not show evidence of gun shyness
and should run towards the shooting area; when the marksman calls him, the dog
should move towards him.
Then, the marksman casts an adequate object and the dog is expected to retrieve it.
Beaver perfectly met all the expectations and consequently received an excellent
judgement.
